Once you have made the decision on what home based business to pursue, the next big activity to plan is your business launch. Your business launch can take two approaches – your warm market or cold market. In this post, I share ideas on how you can efficiently and successfully launch your new home business to your warm market.
Your “warm market” consist of those people you know. These could be your relatives, friends, and even acquaintances. Although the thought of informing your warm market might be a little intimidating, it is a good source of potential business as you have already built rapport and trust with them. In addition, your warm market could be a great source of referrals if they have an understanding of what you do and they may know of others that may have expressed a need for your product or service.
There are a number of strategies you can use to market and launch your business to your warm market. Some of these include:
1) Home Parties – Home parties can be a fun, efficient and a fast way to exposing your business to multiple people at the same time thereby improving your chances of having someone interested in your product or service. Also, the concept of groupthink can work to your advantage, energize the room and lead to interest in your product or service. Some obstacles to hosting a party includes getting a good attendance and managing attendees emotions from feeling pressured to buy.
2) Direct Mail - Direct mail can be a great way to expose your business to your warm market. Direct mail can take the form of a letter, postcard, or card and can be a great way to introduce your business and its benefits to others. In general, mail pieces has a higher open rate than email and most are more inclined to read these mail pieces. Although the use of direct mail may be cumbersome, there are resources that provide this service and makes it convenient and affordable. Check out resources for more ideas.
3) Phone – Calling your warm market is a tried an true way of exposing people to your business. It allows for communication and interaction to occur. It also allows for an immediate commitment to review additional resources explaining your business. The downfall of the phone is that many are intimidated by it and the process is slow as you have to call everyone one by one to connect on the phone.
Other strategies such as blast emails or messages through social media (such as Facebook, Twitter etc) are ineffective as people are either inundated with multiple messages and most do not respond to direct selling through social media.
Whichever strategy you choose to use, it’s important to recognize that each source has it’s pros and cons and usually a combination of two or more strategies lead to successful results.
